Evocatively known as the red-barked dogwood, Cornus Alba Elegantissima is a medium sized shrub, appreciated for its year-round interest. Its deep red stems bear narrow greeny grey leaves which have a white margin, giving the plant a two tone variegated effect. In May and June small white, flat head flowers are borne, which later become white berries, much to the birds’ delight!

Fully hardy, this deciduous shrub is a fast growing plant, happiest when planted in full sun near damp areas. In winter its crimson stems form a focal point in the garden, especially striking when grown near other varieties of dogwood for a contrasting palette.
