The perennial wild rocket adds a peppery taste to salad or pizza and is very easy to grow, ideal for successional growing to provide salad leaves all summer. Its edible yellow flowers are small but sweet. It crops over a long season, even in winter if protected under cover. 
Insights

Grown in peat free compost in a biodegradable pot made from waste coir and natural latex. Remove plant from pot or cut/tear away some of the coir if the plant is well rooted and hard to remove.

Planting
  • Moist, well-drained soil
  • South, West or East aspect
  • Full sun 
Care
  • Pop the discarded coir pot in the green bin, leave out for birds to use for nesting, use as mulch or add to compost heap
  • Pick leaves regularly to ensure new growth
  • Young leaves are milder and more tender
  • It can bolt in dry hot weather, so best to plant in semi shade in summer
  • Wild rocket also thrives when planted in container filled with multi-purpose compost
  • Protect autumn/winter crops
  • Coir pots are supplied by one specific village producer in Sri Lanka. They have built a school, old people's home and extension to the local medical centre over the years from the proceeds of coir pot production
