Features

notes
A very popular eating variety, Spartan bears dark fruit, almost purple in colour, with very white flesh. The flavour is sweet, with a crisp, juicy flesh. Its cup shaped flowers are almost pure white, so it is best grown in a medium sized garden where it can be appreciated for its ornamental beauty as well as its harvest.
Insights

This variety is a very good pollinator, but as it is not self-fertile, it needs to be planted with another variety. A McIntosh/ Yellow Newton Pippin cross, it was discovered in Canada in 1926.
