Artweeks with Sally Bassett

As part of Oxfordshire Artweeks, the city’s largest arts festival, our Burford Gallery is hosting a select number of our artists across the week, from Sunday 18th May. We are delighted to be joined by five of our artists throughout the week, demonstrating how they bring their impressive pieces to life, whilst shedding light upon their practice and answering any questions you may have about their work.

On Sunday 18th May join us in store to meet artist, Sally Bassett between 12:30pm and 3:30pm who will be bringing her sketchbook alongside working on a selection of works in acrylic.

Both a painter and a printer maker, Sally Bassett holds an Honours Degree in Fine Art from the University of Hertfordshire, which she gained after following an early career working in primary and secondary education.

Celebrating the beauty to be found in the changing of the seasons, her artwork commences with her extensive observational notes, gouache sketches, and many photographic images, which later provide impetus for the work completed in her studio. Sally’s work is recognised for being dynamic, bold, full of joy, energy, vitality, and colour.

Dividing her time between the Chiltern Hills and the coast, she lives and works in the small of Aldbury but makes frequent visits to the West Country where the excitement and energy of the sea keep her painting seascapes.

Finding an international market for her pieces, her artwork can be found in homes and boardrooms in many parts of the world.
