A cross between East African camphor basil and sweet basil, this variety was selected for its vigour and ornamental beauty. Loved by pollinators, it produces masses of mauve flower spikes through summer and doesn’t bolt like other basils — making it both a culinary herb and a showy garden companion.

Grown in peat-free compost and supplied in a biodegradable coir pot, made from waste coconut fibre and natural latex. When planting, simply remove the plant and reuse or compost the pot: add to your heap, break it up as mulch, place in the green bin, or offer it to birds for nesting. Water regularly and pinch out tips to maintain shape. Protect from frost — best grown in pots you can move under cover in autumn.
