Sambucus nigra Black Lace (a.k.a. Eva) is a wonderful robust shrub, with very attractive finely divided purple-black foliage and flat heads of light pink tiny blooms in June.
A lovely ornamental form of Elderberry with very fine, almost black lace-like leaves that will add movement when they catch a breeze. It is ideal for the back of a border where its dark colour can compliment brighter coloured plants. The pink flower clusters blend well with the leaf shading.
Place in front of a light-coloured wall or fence. Plant in a sunny location, as this will enhance the dark foliage colour.
Given the Award of Garden Merit (AGM) by the RHS.
