Clematis Purple Princess is an herbaceous perennial, not a climber; growing to a maximum height of 40cm. Bearing dainty, small, blue, bell-shaped flowers, it is best planted in full sun with its roots in the shade. Use it as a contrast against coarser planting or position it near a low growing shrub so that the stems can splay into the bush for extra support.
  • Flowers: August- end September
  • Hardy
  • Well drained soil
  • South or West aspect
  • Full sun
  • Will die back to a crown every winter- be careful not to disturb this as it may not be very visible.
  • Prune in March to shape only
  • Before planting submerge plant in a bucket of water for 10 minutes
