Clematis The President is a medium-sized deciduous climbing plant with single cupped flowers up to 18cm in width. The flowers have handsomely pointed rich violet purple-blue petals, silvery on the reverse, with pinkish and deep red stamens.

A free-flowering and reliable clematis, it is ideal for training over a pergola or garden arch. It blooms from late spring to early summer and again from late summer to early autumn, followed by decorative seed heads. A recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence in the garden

Clematis like having their ‘heads in the sun and feet in the shade’. Hard prune in winter/early spring. Remove unwanted dead or damaged stems and trim to strong buds in early spring before growth stars. Dead head to encourage later flowers. Toxic to dogs, cats and horses and humans if ingested.
