Cordalis, curiously part of the poppy family, are widespread but the majority of the species are found in China and Tibet. The name is derived from the Greek word, Korydallos, meaning crested lark, inspired by the shape of the flowers. Also pleasing is the fact that it is a welcome pollinator for bees.
The true blue flowers of this perennial appear in late May and will continue until late July.
