notes
The Dahlia ‘Nuit d’Ete’ carries an assortment of textures, adding richness to its dark maroon, red colours. With its spiky, dramatic structure and vibrant shade, this variety would look particularly exquisite in your flower bed this summer.
Insights

Classed as ‘Cactus Dahlias’, these magnificent perennials feature masses of slender yet seemingly spiky, bright flowers, the petals of which roll inwards or outwards to more than two-thirds of their length. Often narrow and pointed with deeply incised tips, this particular variety is also known as a ‘Spider Dahlia’ for its leggy structure.

Care

Feed weekly, and water well in hot weather. The tall flower stems will require staking and tying in, but this is well worth the trouble for the magnificent display that they produce. Larger flowers can be obtained by pinching out the side buds and just keeping the terminal buds. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more buds. Lift the tubers once the foliage has died back and store in a frost-free location in moist sand or compost. Find out more about over-wintering your dahlias with our helpful guide .
