This delightful shrub Deutzia Yuki Snowflake is compact and hardy, but produces the most extraordinary display of exotic, blossom-like flowers in spring. The simple foliage, backdrop to a profusion of dazzling white flowers for several months, is not to be overlooked, the leaves turn a beautiful shade of burgundy in autumn before falling.

Deutzia is native to eastern and central Asia, successfully introduced to Europe in the 18th century and named after the contemporary Dutch botanist van der Deutz. This particular variety is seen as a triumph of breeding, since it is both profusely flowering and compact.

Flowers: April to June.

  • Moist, well drained soil
  • Full sun / partial shade
  • South, west, east facing
  • Front of border

This compact deciduous shrub needs little pruning other than to keep it in shape by taking out the dead, diseased or damaged stems and pruning the tips immediately after flowering.
