Also known as the Pearl Bush, due to the rounded shape of the early, white flower buds, Exochorda macrantha 'The Bride' is an extremely popular shrub. In spring its arching branches are coated in confetti-like, papery flowers; in autumn the deciduous foliage turns a rich yellow orange. Recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence in the garden.

Originating in China and Asia, the Pearl Bush is extremely tolerant of low temperatures and can be grown as statement planting in large containers. It is a relation of the rose family.
Flowers: From April -May the shrub is covered in a mass of white flowers which later become rather attractive but inedible small, star-shaped fruits

This low maintenance shrub needs little attention other than removing dead, diseased or damaged stems after flowering.
