The tiny yellow flowers of Artemesia Powis Castle appear in the autumn, but it is for the exquisite silver foliage, with its beautifully cut, almost fern-like leaves that you plant Wormwood in the garden. Semi-evergreen and frost hardy, it creates the most lovely foil for other herbaceous flowers, especially those with lime green bracts, or purple and pink petals. Supplied in biodegradable pot made from waste coir and natural latex.

Insights
Named after the Greek goddess Artemesia (the Roman huntress Diana), essential oil extracted from the aromatic foliage has been used for centuries for medicinal purposes and slightly more recently to flavour Absinthe. It is a recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence in the garden.

Care
Cut back in early spring but take care not to cut into the wood. It is worth waiting for a few buds to appear to guide your cuts. As the new stems develop, pinch out the tips to inhibit growth.
