Features

notes
Beautifully variegated, Hosta Lakeside Spruce Goose produces beautifully shiny, dark green leaves with a wide yellow border that matures to white. In the summer lovely funnel-shaped, purple flowers hang from strong stems above the foliage. The effect is highly decorative and is particularly good at introducing drama in a shady corner.
Insights

Hostas are native to the far east but were introduced to Europe in the 1800s and became instantly popular. They are spectacular when planted alongside other shade loving plants such as heuchera, dicentra or ferns. This example was bred in 1998 in the famous Tennessee Lakeside Acres nursery by the revered Hosta breeders R & M Chaslain.

Care

In slug prone areas, plant in a container raised on gravel and water, otherwise in a dappled border. Deadhead spent flowers and removed foliage as it dies back in the autumn.
