- Sow: March - July (direct outdoors; can also be sown under cover earlier)
- Harvest: May - September (about 10 weeks after sowing)
- Soil: Well‑drained, fertile, moist soil
- Aspect: Full sun or light shade
- Sow seeds about 2 cm deep in drills outdoors, spacing rows about 30 cm apart. Thin seedlings as they grow, or sow in small blocks and pick leaves cut‑and‑come‑again style.
Keep beds free of weeds and soil evenly moist, especially after sowing and during dry weather. Successional sowings every few weeks will provide a continual supply of fresh leaves.
