Reclining Hare
Christine's awareness of the animal's anatomy is evident, but typical of her highly expressive style, she leaves the unconsciously made marks visible, working almost as a textural shorthand conveying the wild animals’ character. Cast in iron resin, the rusty patination adds to the unpolished power of Reclining Hare which settles superbly into a natural setting.

Holding early memories dear of digging clay out of a garden with her grandfather and modelling a dog, Baxter has evolved into a highly successful sculptor. Closely considering the ‘balance, gravity, volume and grace’ of a piece, she hopes in turn that the viewer will experience these thought processes upon close observation.
Trained at Camberwell School of Art in bronze foundry casting and arc welding techniques, Baxter went on to work for 12 years in the toy and giftware industry until she was able to procure a studio in Gloucestershire and undertake sculpture on her own terms. She lives and works in Monmouthshire.
