Sarcococca hookeriana 'Winter Gem' may be an apparently unassuming, dwarf evergreen shrub, but it comes into its own in the winter. Pretty, but inconspicuous white flowers emerge from red buds in December with a remarkably strong and lovely fragrance, and are followed by attractive (inedible) black berries which will stay on the branches until spring.

This vibrant shrub looks excellent at the back of a border, providing much needed winter colour. It is a plant that keeps on giving, with juicy black berries forming in the summer months, providing year round interest.

CARE
