Insights
Native to the subtropical coastal forests of South Africa, Strelitzia nicolai is the larger, more statuesque relative of the better-known Strelitzia reginae. In the wild, it can reach remarkable heights, but indoors it grows steadily and gracefully.

Care
Water when the top few centimetres of compost feel dry, and mist regularly to mimic its native humidity. In the warmer months, feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Repot every two to three years to support healthy growth.
