Getting to know, 'Shepherd of Sweden'
Founded in 1982 by Swen Björkman, Shepherd of Sweden are best known for creating some of the cosiest slippers and most stylish home accessories, bringing an effortlessly Scandinavian sense of comfort and design into every home. What began with a single slipper style, sold simply in a plastic bag in Swedish grocery stores, has grown into a much-loved range of over 100 designs, available in an array of colours and finishes. With a strong emphasis on precise craftsmanship and supporting skilled artisans throughout the process, Shepherd also brings a beautifully modern aesthetic to every piece—designed from their headquarters in Svenljunga.
With over 40 years of experience and a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship, Shepherd has become a go-to brand for premium sheepskin accessories and clothing. Their sheepskins are sourced from England and Australia, before being expertly made in Europe, chosen for both their quality and the reassurance of ethical sourcing.
Unlike many alternatives that use cowhide lined with sheepskin, Shepherd products are crafted from 100% double-faced sheepskin. The result is footwear and accessories that are beautifully made to last, offering natural breathability, durability and comfort, alongside the effortless elegance the brand is known for. Sheepskin and wool are also naturally temperature-regulating and anti-bacterial, making every piece as practical as it is luxurious.

Sustainability sits at the heart of Shepherd’s values, with a long-standing commitment to doing business with respect for people, the planet and the communities in which they work. With a wider aim of helping to reduce poverty, they are currently upgrading a modern wastewater treatment plant at their main factory in North Macedonia, enabling water to be reused and overall consumption to be reduced. Their wider goals include increasing the use of sustainable and recycled materials, adhering to all REACH regulations, and supporting the Loza Foundation. Established in 2017, the Loza Foundation helps vulnerable children and adults in North Macedonia by improving living conditions and providing essentials such as food, shelter and other necessities.
Fluffy and cosy pieces
If you could sum up Shepherd of Sweden in a single product, it would be the Annie and Anton slippers in Antique. This signature style has become a standout bestseller in the UK and across Europe, consistently outperforming every other colourway, and helping to drive growing demand across the men’s, women’s and children’s ranges.
It has also inspired the creation of four new unisex styles, launching very soon. Looking ahead, Shepherd will be introducing their first leather sandal collection in 2026 - marking the first time the brand has created footwear without sheepskin.
