Oxfordshire Artweeks

As part of Oxfordshire Artweeks, the county’s largest arts festival, our Burford Gallery is hosting a select number of our artists across the week, from Saturday 9th May. We are delighted to be joined by sixteen of our artists throughout the week, demonstrating how they bring their impressive pieces to life, whilst shedding light upon their practice and answering any questions you may have about their work.

On Sunday 17th May, join us in store to meet artist Fiona Tracey between 11am and 4pm, as she works on a nearly finished painting in her own style.

Meet Fiona Tracey

Fiona Tracey’s work moves gently between abstraction and figuration, drawing deeply on the natural world and the quiet beauty it lends to the landscape. Her paintings begin as explorations of colour and form, evolving intuitively as each composition finds its own direction.

Working in oils, Fiona builds her pieces through layered applications, allowing shapes to emerge, recede, and reappear - creating a sense of depth and quiet discovery within each work. Her use of colour is both instinctive and considered, balancing contrast and harmony to express a deeply personal visual language.

An Irish painter now based in Oxford, Fiona is particularly drawn to expressive florals, where movement and form unfold through close observation. The result is a body of work that feels both abundant and immersive, inviting the viewer into a richly textured and ever-shifting landscape.

I have a love of paint itself, and everything it can do.
