Features

notes

Originating from the Hakone region of Japan, this ornamental forest grass features narrow foliage that moves gracefully, forming a soft, flowing mound in the garden, ideal for softening pathways or the edge of a container. This deciduous, clump-forming plant transforms into a striking fiery red in autumn.

Insights

A low-maintenance, slow-growing plant, ‘Nicolas’ thrives in shade, bringing interest to darker corners of the garden, and looks particularly effective when planted in drifts. In early summer, it produces subtle, cream-coloured flower spikes.
