Polemonium Bressingham Purple is a delightful plant for the late spring herbaceous border. From delicately shaped leaves on surprisingly robust stalks, emerge clusters of purple/blue flowers with attractively marked centres. Beautiful in the border, this pollinator-attracting plant is also suitable for containers and can be cut for arrangements.

The regular arrangement of the leaves of this perennial explains its common name, a biblical reference to Jacob’s Ladder. Native to the woods of North America, this variety however, was bred in England , selected by the Bloom family at Bressingham.

Small, jewel-like deep purple flowers appear in May -June and continue flowering for some months

  • Well drained soil
  • All aspects
  • Partial shade
  • Hardy

Ideal for containers or on the edges of borders, but does not like full sun or to dry out completely. Dead head after flowering to deter, if not wanted, enthusiastic self seeding.
