notes

Crocus ‘Golden Yellow’ is a vibrant early-spring crocus whose golden-yellow cup-shaped blooms open like sunlit goblets, carpeting lawns, rockeries, or containers with radiant colour as winter loosens its hold.

Insights

A Giant Dutch (Crocus vernus/× luteus) variety: robust, clump-forming and prolifically flowering—ideal for naturalising en masse and brightening early spring spaces.

Details

Flowering Time: February–March

Planting
  • Soil: Prefers moderately fertile, well‑drained soil
  • Aspect: Full sun to partial shade
  • Planting Time & Depth: Plant in autumn (Sept–Nov) at 7–10 cm deep, spacing 5–8 cm for naturalising impact
Care
  • Bulbs are toxic to pets or humans if ingested
  • Corms are vulnerable to mice and squirrels
  • If planted in lawns, do not mow for six weeks after they have flowered to allow the foliage to provide energy for the corms (for next year’s flowers)
