notes

A Christmas tree is an integral part of any festive decorating – as the tree is often the first festive ‘guest’ to arrive and one of the last to leave, the important ritual of choosing and dressing a tree is one that is personal to each home. Bearing a fresh scent and slightly more compact form than a Nordman Fir, this Pot Grown Korean Fir (Abies koreana) makes an excellent option. Please, note, the lights and hessian featured are not included. Photographed size: 125cm-150cm.

Available in three approximate sizes, to local postcodes only. To check your postcode delivery day, please refer to our Delivery & Returns page.

Insights

With its flat, round needles (which are soft not spiky!) and symmetrical form, the Korean Fir also has good needle retention and a fresh, piney scent. A bonus are its cones (although these can crumble). Native to South Korea, the variety has only recently begun cultivation over here for use as a Christmas tree but is already gaining in popularity.

Details
  • These pot grown trees are an ecologically friendly option and will continue to grow if looked after. (For care instructions please see details.)
  • To fulfil customer expectations we carefully select our Christmas trees from a high quality, sustainable crop from the British Isles and Scandinavia. In common with all grown purchases, there will be minor variations from tree to tree. Your tree may look slightly different from the image, but its quality should not be in question. Equally, the measurement cannot be precise. Trees in pots are measured from the base of the pot to the top of the tree.
Care

Please leave the tree outside for a long as possible, anything above two weeks indoors will ‘break its dormancy’ (if you then put it outside it will think it is spring). When inside, your tree will thrive better in a room below 18ºC; avoid positioning near a radiator or other source of heat. Stand it in a tray of water, top up regularly. On Twelfth Night (or when you want to put it outside), repot into John Innes No. 3 with some bark chippings, and water thoroughly. Ideally stand on a sunny, airy terrace.
