Features

notes
Often regarded as one of the most beautiful pines, Pinus wallichiana (Blue pine or Bhutan pine) is a very elegant, broad crowned evergreen tree, with spreading lower branches. With slender, drooping blue green needles and banana-shaped cones up to 25cm long, the pyramidal shape of the tree and the soft, tactile nature of the needles, create an aesthetically pleasing effect.
Insights

Typically found in the Himalayas or the higher altitude regions of South Asia, this blue pine was first introduced to Britain in 1823. Although it may grow slowly in its first year, it will soon pick up growth as it matures, with decent sunlight and protection from heavy winds. This conifer is a recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.
