Features

notes

Wisteria floribunda Black Dragon (aka Wisteria floribunda Yae-Kokuryu) has pea-like, fragrant violet-blue flowers, held in pendant clusters. Velvety seed pods follow. The foliage of this ornamental vine emerges bronze in spring and matures to bright green then buttery yellow in autumn. Can take a couple of years to flower.

Insights

Fast growing and vigorous, it is ideal for covering walls, arches, pillars, pergolas, fences, trellises and established trees, although initial vertical support will be needed. It prefers a sunny spot, and will twine up any support you provide, but do allow plenty of room for the roots to run.
