Burford Café

Last Updated 4th January 2021

Following the latest government announcements (4th January 2021) the business is able to remain open to the public, with our normal opening hours in place during the National Lockdown. This is because the Government has asked for certain businesses to remain open during the lockdown, to help retain and stimulate some of the economy and to provide support and a service to communities, and we have been classified as part of this category.

Our Store opening hours will be as normal and as follows

9am - 6pm Mondays to Saturdays

11am - 5pm on Sundays

As is permitted, the majority of our retail areas will remain open, with the additional safety and welfare measures that we have introduced since the start of the pandemic.

Please note our café is open for a limited take home and takeaway service only until such time restrictions can be eased again. No eat in / seated service is permitted and food and drink cannot be consumed in the store, outdoor retail areas or our café .

Our loos will remain open too, as will our outdoor Natural Play area.

The above may be subject to change at short notice, if Government advice is changed or further restrictions are introduced.

Please also see our Covid Update for the latest information on additional safety and welfare measures we have implemented.

Our ONLINE STORE also remains open.

UPDATE 23rd December 2020

UPDATE Following the latest government announcements today (23rd December), Oxfordshire, and West Oxfordshire, will be moving to tier 4 coronavirus restrictions with effect from 26th December and until further notice. This means our Cafés will only be able to offer a take home / takeaway service from this date, until such time restrictions can be eased.

We have decided to bring forward these restrictions straight away, and our Cafés will be closed to eat in customers on Christmas Eve, 24th December. We will be offering a take home / takeaway service only from the usual spot in our Main Café, as we did throughout November.

The important bits

Burford, as part of Oxfordshire, will move to be under Tier 4 restrictions from 26th December, so we can only open our Cafés for take home or takeaway service from this date - until such time restrictions can be eased again. We will offer this service from the usual spot in our Main Café only.

There is no need to book, we will be offering the same friendly, walk in service as before.

We will continue to ask everyone to 'check in' on arrival by scanning the NHS Track and Trace app. If you do not have a smart phone, don't worry we can also do this manually for you.

To ensure we maintain safe, social distancing we have set aside a special waiting area, where you may need to queue briefly at busy times. There is likely to be short wait at lunchtimes and at weekends, but the queues do move along pretty quickly .

While we remain in Tier 4, we will not be serving alcohol from our Cafés.

Main Café opening hours 9:00am - 5:30pm Monday - Saturday, 10:30am -5.00pm Sundays

Our Cafés

Our rather gorgeous Main Café has become a bit of a fixture in the accolades at the annual Oxfordshire Restaurant Awards, and we are very proud of it. Set in one of our stunning, light-filled glasshouses, the vibrant, welcoming space is very much at the heart of the Burford experience.

..

We are about delicious, rustic food with a modern twist, cooked well and with a simplicity that brings out all the natural flavours in seasonal ingredients.

Using only hand-selected, local produce, meats and dairy products, our team of chefs and bakers prepare and cook everything from scratch every day, seven days a week, in our own in-house kitchens.

..

We celebrate the seasons in our menus and our team takes great pride in crafting delicious dishes from the harvest from our own kitchen gardens wherever possible. Our lamb is from our own flock too, grazed in our own fields to the very highest welfare standards.

Where we cannot grow our own, our ingredients come exclusively from local artisan producers and suppliers – be it our whole milk sourced from Cotteswold Dairy or the finest Cotswold beef from the award-winning Todenham Manor Farm.

..

The atmosphere in our café is relaxed, friendly and informal. There is free Wi-Fi. We do not take bookings, so you can come and go as you please – and even if you only have time for a quick coffee, you will always be guaranteed the same warm welcome.

Every day, our creative kitchen team ensure we cover a wide range of dietary requirements, including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan. Children are most welcome, and we are able to provide main lunches in children's portions too.
