Getting to know 'The Haberdashery Lab'

The Haberdashery Lab is Oxford’s brand new sewing haven, where inspiration, expert know‑how, and playful creativity collide.
Led by Hayley Cherkas, who's hand crafted blouses have featured in our Womenswear Collections, a Central Saint Martins graduate who’s worked in ateliers for Burberry, Dior and Dunhill. After moving to Oxford, Hayley saw a gap: whilst the city had sewing lovers aplenty, most classes taught only the basics. She answered by creating The Haberdashery Lab, offering relaxing, richly inspirational sessions for all abilities.

Classes begin in July, covering technical highlights (think neat seams, darts, frills, pockets, zips and waistbands) guided by fashion history and studio moments. One on one sessions will help stitchers of all levels build real confidence, and are available at request.
Every stitch and seam is about finishing a project you can’t wait to wear or share. Whether you’re dreaming of handmade everyday pieces or a capsule wardrobe, The Haberdashery Lab gives you the tools and the confidence to bring ideas to life.
So grab your scissors and your favourite fabric: it’s time to join a community where clothes are made with heart, and creativity is always in style.
Join The Haberdashery Lab on Tuesday evenings from July.
St Margaret's Institute, Oxford - from 5:30 - 7:30pm, £30 per class.
