Beneath Our Feet: Everyday Discoveries Reshaping History
Detailing 50 archaeological treasures recently found by ordinary people which are reshaping our understanding of British history, ‘Beneath Our Feet’ acts as a celebration of the growing public involvement in archaeology. Armed with spades and maps, detectorists, mudlarks, and fieldwalkers scour the earth’s surface in search of the past. What they uncover may seem unremarkable at first - shards of pottery, worn coins, fragments of jewellery, yet each piece holds a story. From these remnants emerge glimpses of how our ancestors lived: how they traded, ate, played, fought and how they died. With forewards by Mackenzie Crook and Alice Roberts.
