Features

notes
An extremely elegant ornamental grass, Calamagrostis actifolia Overdam bears feathery plumes of flowers on long stems from summer to autumn, adding height to a border or focus to a prairie planting scheme. In the winter these plumes catch the frost to magical effect. The long, slim arching leaves are dark green with a stripe.
Insights

The name Calamagrostis is a happy mix of the Greek word for weed and grass. It is widely indigenous across parts of Europe and Asia. An architectural ornamental grass, if planted in rows it can form a useful screen but is valued especially for adding movement to a border, catching, as it does, every breeze.
