notes

Purple Sage is a deciduous perennial bearing grey-green foliage which is initially flushed with reddish tones as it emerges. From early summer the stems are topped with decorative spires of lilac flowers which are particularly attractive to bees.

Insights

When finely chopped the leaves make a great addition to stuffing, herb tea and sage butter. High in vitamins A and C, the leaves are also great sprinkled upon meat and fish dishes.
