Flowering Time: Late winter to early spring
- Soil: Rich, humus-filled, well-drained soil
- Aspect: Partial shade or dappled light
- Sunlight: Filtered, gentle sunlight—avoid full, harsh sun
- Planting Time and Depth: Plant tubers in autumn or early winter (Sept–Dec), about 2–5 cm deep and spaced 8–15 cm apart
- Water moderately during growth; reduce in dormancy. Avoid waterlogged soil to prevent tuber rot
- Mulch annually with leaf mould or bark to retain moisture and protect in winter
- Hardy to approx. –15 °C to –20 °C in well-drained conditions
- Generally pest-resistant; occasional mice or squirrels may disturb tubers—bulb baskets or mesh help
