Features
'Taurus' by Andrew Allanson, a foundry cast bronze sculpture with cloud patina, presents a quietly powerful bull in softened, rounded form. Mottled bronze tones lend depth and texture; this piece would suit a study, library, or considered contemporary interior.
Taking influences from British Modernists such as Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, to ancient cultures such as Aztec and Olmec art and Inuit carvings, Allanson produces work in a wide range of materials, including soapstone, serpentine, and ceramic media, paying closer attention recently to the versatility and textures that metallized resins and jesmonite provides.
Upon receiving an extensive education in Fine Art, Allanson worked as a designer, illustrator, and photographer before becoming a full time artist, refining his specialty in painting and sculpture; “I enjoy the freedom to create and develop my own interpretations and the challenge of capturing the essence of a subject.”
