Care

Clematis prefer a position in full sun or partial shade, with moist but well-drained soil and their roots kept cool. To achieve this, plant the crown 5–8cm (2–3in) below soil level and provide shade at the base, either with mulch or surrounding plants.

This variety flowers in late summer on the current season’s growth. Prune in early spring, before new growth begins. As a Group 3 clematis, all stems from the previous year should be cut back to a strong pair of healthy buds, about 20cm (8in) above ground level.
