Allium Pinball Wizard is a mid-height variety of ornamental onion, a cottage garden staple, which features silver-purple, star-shaped flowers in densely packed globe clusters from mid-May. The flower globes are enormous and provide impressive interest in a border. Unlike other alliums, the strappy grey-green leaves do not die back when the flower develops.

Insights
Attractive to butterflies and bees, this hardy herbaceous perennial bulb has a long flowering season. Pinball Wizard works well when planted in drifts with ornamental grasses and other alliums, or to take over from tulips. Or plant in a sunny border, so the umbrels can grow through other foliage such as paeonies.
