notes

'Still Life', attributed to Anne Redpath OBE, is a charming oil on board piece, blending stylised floral motifs with a distinctly decorative touch. A tall blue vase anchors the composition, cradling an arrangement of simplified blooms in ochre, coral and teal. The rope effect frame enhances the piece's folkish, crafted appeal. Likely painted with wit and deliberation, this work would suit eclectic interiors, particularly kitchens or dining areas.

Artist

Anne Redpath OBE RSA ARA (1895–1965) was a leading Scottish painter known for her vibrant still lifes and interiors. Born in Galashiels, she studied at Edinburgh College of Art and later worked in France, where Continental colour and design deeply influenced her style. Redpath’s expressive use of pattern and texture became her hallmark. Elected the first female Academician of the Royal Scottish Academy, she played a vital role in post-war Scottish art and exhibited widely across the UK.
