Features

notes

With an almost thistle-like profile and attractively scaley buds, delicately cut, velvety petals radiate from a richly coloured centre in this distinctive herbaceous perennial. Cut the flower heads for striking flower arrangements and deadhead any left on the plant to encourage later flowering.

Insights

The rich colour and refined, mediaeval-looking outline make this a perfect choice for planting near or against Cotswold stone. Closely related to the native Knapweed, one of our most robust meadow flowers, C. Amethyst Dream is also highly attractive to bees and other pollinators.
