David Hockney
David Hockney, one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, is exhibiting more than 400 of his works (from 1955 to 2025) including paintings from international, institutional, and private collections, as well as works from the artist’s own studio at an exhibition held at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris this summer. This glorious large-format book, which sits alongside the exhibition, offers a detailed journey through Hockney’s remarkable life and career. Several of the chapters are arranged thematically, ranging from still life and portraits to his much-loved landscapes and stunning designs for opera. A final chapter explores Hockney’s engagement with digital art, particularly on the iPad. Throughout, we see the endless inventiveness, curiosity and creativity that have characterized Hockney’s work over eight decades.
