Planting
- Well drained, light soil
- South aspect

- Planting Time and Depth: Autumn (September - October), 15-20cm (6-8in) deep, 15-20cm (6-8in) apart. Create a shallow planting hole 15–20cm (6–8in) deep and slightly wider than the root system. Octopus shaped bulb - form a small mound of coarse grit, sharp sand, or soil in the centre of the hole, then position the crown on top, so the roots spread evenly around it. Ensure the central growing point sits just below the soil surface. Use a cane to mark planting.
Care
- Resent disturbance so hand weed around them and do not plant in shade of other plants
- Growth begins early in spring and can be damaged by frost – protect with fleece or cloche
- May need support but be careful not to damage roots with cane
- Shelter from wind
- Deadhead spent flowers to promote flowering
- Not suited for containers
- Let foliage die back naturally
- Bulbs are toxic to pets or humans if ingested and may cause skin allergy
