notes

Hyssop is a perennial herb with culinary value, yet it also makes an attractive addition to the middle of a summer border. It has delightfully scented lance-shaped foliage, which come summer will bear small dark blue flowers, attracting an array of native pollinators.

Insights

Commercially distilled for its aromatic oil, its scented foliage has much use in the kitchen. Use a few leaves to season fish dishes and add some subtle flavouring.

Planting
  • Any moist, well-drained soil

Care

Grown in peat free compost in a biodegradable pot made from waste coir and natural latex. After being soaked in a bucket of water this Hyssop and pot can be planted straight into the ground. The coir will naturally degrade, encouraging the roots to grow into the surrounding soil. Pinch back to keep the plant bushy.
