Features

notes

The mound forming perennial has evergreen, narrow, glossy leaves and flattened flower heads in pale pinky white with a raspberry pink centre. Its compact habit makes it ideal for the front of a border or rock garden, where its flowers will attract butterflies and other pollinators to the garden.

Insights

Native to the rocky coastlines of the southern Mediterranean and north Africa, the common name of Candytuft is thought to be a derivation of the 13th-17th century name for Crete - Candia. Its origins explain its remarkable hardiness and its traditional planting alongside alpines and rocks.
