notes

Formerly known as Dicentra, Lamprocapnos spectabilis is a classic plant for a cottage garden or edge of woodland. Instantly recognisable with its dainty, bobbing hearts arranged in an arching line, this is the white variety, and as pretty as the more familiar standard pink in our opinion.

Insights

Lamprocapnos is a rhizomatous perennial that gradually spreads to form a clump and is ideal for bringing light to a dark area of the border. A recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence in the garden.
