Artist
Mark Senior (1862–1927) was a British Post-Impressionist painter and teacher, born in Dewsbury. He was closely associated with the Staithes group on the North East Yorkshire coast, among the first to practise plein air painting in the region. Trained at the Wakefield School of Art, his artistic development was shaped by visits to the Slade and introductions to Whistler, Steer, and Tonks. Senior exhibited at the Royal Academy and the National Portrait Society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
