Features

notes

Perovskia 'Blue Spire' is a useful perennial for late summer colour. Its tiny, violet-blue, tubular flowers appear on silver-grey spikes from August, forming a haze above deeply divided leaves that smell of both sage and lavender (and attract pollinating insects). This large specimen offers instant impact, and needs a position in full, unshaded sun to perform at its best.

INSIGHTS

Named after the Russian count who first introduced it to Western gardens, this aromatic sub-shrub comes from Afghanistan and the Himalayas. Russian Sage loves the sun and regrows each year from a woody base.
