A new variety, that is bushier and stronger than others, 'Prime Time', is one of the earliest to flower, its tiny, violet-blue flowers appear on silver-grey spikes from July, forming a haze above deeply divided leaves that smell of both sage and lavender (and attract pollinating insects).

Named after the Russian count who first introduced it to Western gardens, this aromatic sub-shrub comes from Afghanistan and the Himalayas. Russian Sage loves the sun and regrows each year from a woody base.
