notes

Polemoniums are an attractive addition to the garden, for they boast interesting foliage and appealing flowers. Polemonium Kaleidoscope has variegated, ladder-like leaves (befitting its name Jacob’s Ladder), with purple-pink edges that fade to cream, and from late spring, this foliage is accented by clusters of bell shaped, purpley blue flowers held aloft dark stems.

Insights

A cottage garden staple, polemoniums are best planted in partly shaded areas, such as under trees or in a border. They are prolific self seeders, which is great if you want more plants, but remove seed heads if not!
