Rosa Silas Marner's buds are borne on red-tinged stems and unfurl into shallow pale pink cup-shape blooms with button eyes. In a border, the impact of this remarkable rose is heightened by its medium old rose fragrance.

Please note, our roses are available to purchase all year round, so depending on the time of year your rose may either arrive in bloom or have been pruned or deadheaded appropriately for the season.

Silas Marner was published in 1861, the fifth book by Mary Ann Evans who wrote under the name of George Eliot. David Austin named his beautiful rose after the kind hearted hero of this classic novel.

  • English shrub rose grown for cutting and scent
  • Flowering period, repeat: June to September
  • Fully hardy
  • Classic plant for mixed border or container
  • All soil types
  • All aspects
  • Full sun or partial shade

Dig a hole larger than the root ball and loosen surrounding soil, sprinkle with Mycorrhizal Fungi to promote root growth, position rose, infill and water well. Deadhead spent blooms to promote new buds. Please see our Rose pruning guide.
