Also known as Anemanthele lessoniana or more commonly, Pheasant’s Tail Grass, this stipa is a striking ornamental grass, with slender semi-evergreen foliage that emerges fountain–like from a mound. In summer, airy flowerheads hang almost to the ground. A delightful grass that moves easily and gracefully in any whisper of wind.

Offering movement and structure to the garden, this plant can be used for great effect in a border or container planting. Originating in New Zealand, it is borderline hardy so will need some winter protection in cold areas, particularly from the cold and damp. It is a recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.
