The Little Silver Tree of Hope
Standing majestically against a painted steel backboard, the 'Little Silver Tree of Hope' epitomises the illustrious nature of our Cotswold surroundings. A majority of Townsend’s work heralds the artist’s particular love of indigenous trees, using steel to amplify the romanticism found within the unpredictable twists and bends of the branches.

Predominantly working with a wide range of steel and found objects, Townsend uses his atmosphere as his influence, “I am excited by the notion of creating a unique visual language with my work, describing and interpreting a journey through life and responses to stimuli, feelings and emotions.”
Since graduating from Liverpool University in 1996 with a first class combined honours degree in Fine Art and Psychology, Townsend has been working from his studio based in Ascott under Wychwood, Oxfordshire.
