Native to Mexico, the Tradescantia carries succulent-like leaves due to their ability to store large amounts of water. Named after John Tradescant Senior, a gardener employed by King Charles I, a botanist and explorer, the plant became popular in the courts of Europe by 1662 due to the discovery that it was incredibly easy to propagate.
- Pot size: 17cm
- Height and Spread: This slow growing plant can reach up to H: 60cm (2ft) x W: 45cm (1ft 6in)
- Soil: Well-draining potting compost
- Position: Bright, indirect light
- Toxic to humans and pets if ingested.
- Please note, the pot cover featured is not included.
A position with indirect light is ideal, if too dark the leaves will become lank and revert to a singular green shade. Avoid standing in water, the soil can be left to dry out between watering. If the leaf edges are brown, humidity is too low.
